We are proud to announce the limited edition release of just 900 bottles of our inaugural single-vineyard Sparkling Rosé. The new release comes with a special addition – a label that was designed by renowned Australian illustrator Alexandra Nea (pictured below).
Winemaker Paul Bridgeman is especially excited about this new release. The 2014 vintage was Bridgeman’s first at Levantine Hill, where he forged a new direction in philosophy and introduced new methods for the winery, including the creation of a tiny quantity of single-vineyard Sparkling Rosé.
“We are seeing in the 2014 Levantine Hill Estate Sparkling Rosé the fulfillment of the intention to allow this cuvée to age for an extended period on lees to further enhance its intensity and breadth of expression,’’ Mr Bridgeman said.
“This 2014 traditional method Sparkling Rosé wine features a bouquet of brioche, marmalade, raspberry, rose petals, caramelized peach and chalk undertone. The Pinot Noir flexes its weight on the palate as richness and bandwidth. The extended ageing ‘sur lie’ has enhanced body and crème anglaise texture over a saline acid backbone with blood orange, tarragon and radicchio flavors carrying through the finish.’’ he said.
Grapes for the 2014 Levantine Hill Estate Sparkling Rosé were hand-picked from the single planting of Pinot Noir Clone D2V6 on our Colleen’s Paddock vineyard. Cuvee taille juice was lightly racked to a single 1000-litre aged French oak foudre for fermentation. Elevage was undertaken on yeast lees for 11 months prior to blending and tirage for secondary fermentation in bottle. Each bottle aged on its lees for 4 years prior to disgorging. This extended period of ageing on its autolyzing yeast lees has contributed further richness, width and complexity to its innate elegance and finesse.
“This painstaking, uncompromised, method had produced our most individual, expressive and elegant sparkling wine yet”, Managing Director Samantha Jreissati said.
Renowned Australian illustrator Alexandra Nea is also delighted to be part of this wine project. Working with brands across the Australian fashion landscape such as David Jones and VAMFF, the collaboration with Levantine Hill was an easy choice.
"I was thrilled to partner with Levantine Hill for the creation of an original illustration showcasing the beauty of their Estate in celebration of the release of this rare 2014 Sparkling Rosé,’’ she said.
Having been official launched at our annual Springfest lunch on Sunday 27 October, the 2014 Sparkling Rosé is now available for purchase.
